Why do they always want to adapt a very Japan-centric story like Death Note when there are tonnes of anime like Trigun, Baccano and Arakawa Under the Bridge that are more Hollywood adaptation-friendly?
Death Note is too Japan-centric for Hollywood. The fact that they have to make Light a bullied kid instead of an all-perfect kid is proof that Death Note just doesn't work in a Western setting.
